Course content
1. Introduction: Characteristics and significance of CCI in the regional context 2. Economic aspects of cultural and creative industries in the regional context 3. Sociocultural impacts of cultural and creative industries on community development and regional/local identity 4. Critical approaches to the role of CCI in the regional economy 5. Cultural and creative entrepreneurship: Models, opportunities, and challenges; linking local traditions to new types of economic activities 6. Strategies for supporting cultural and creative industries at the regional and municipal levels 7. Innovation and the regional innovation system with a focus on CCI and their impact on the regional economy 8. International and cross-border dimensions of cultural and creative collaboration and opportunities for sharing know-how 9. Actors in regional development and their roles in supporting cultural and creative industries, case study: Identification of development processes implemented in a selected region within the CCI context 10.-11. Case studies: Identification and mapping of CCI in a selected region, regionally specific cultural and creative themes 12. Discussion of specific examples of successful integration of cultural and creative elements into regional development strategies

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the fundamental relationship between the regional environment (structures) and the phenomenon of cultural and creative industries (CCI). On the one hand, CCI are rooted in the regional context, history, accumulated knowledge, and expertise of local businesses and individuals, while on the other hand, CCI influence the transformation of the economy, society, and regional environments. The course will explore strategies and tools that regions can use to support and develop CCI. Students will also develop analytical and critical thinking skills through the study of specific cases and case studies. They will gain an understanding of the significance of CCI in regional development, the importance of CCI in the regional economy, and the interconnectedness between CCI and regional growth. The course will address the role of CCI in the regional innovation system. Part of the course will focus on identifying regionally specific topics that offer opportunities for development through creative and cultural activities. The course will also focus on identifying key themes and stakeholders in CCI, examining the developmental potential and barriers that cultural and creative industries present for regional development.
The acquired competencies represent the mastery and application of knowledge in the given field, based on the specific course description and aimed at fulfilling the graduate profile.
