1. Introduction to the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI) - Definitions of Basic Concepts and Terms 2. Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to provide a basic and introductory overview of the definition, understanding, and significance of cultural and creative industries (CCI). The course will discuss their growing share in regional economies, their contribution to emerging economic activities, and the creation of new jobs. Specific examples of CCI sectors will be analyzed in detail, and various approaches to defining these industries will be presented, including their unique features in terms of work organization and value creation. The course will also specify the differences between CCI and traditional industries, focusing on prevalent job roles and activities within them. Geographical aspects of CCI localization, agglomeration effects, and the principles of concentration of these economic activities will also be addressed. In addition, critical evaluations of CCI and reasons for their potential overestimation will be explored. Upon completing the course, students will be able to explain the basic concepts of the subject, provide examples of CCI, and articulate the unique and added value of CCI.
The acquired competencies represent the mastery and application of knowledge in the given field, based on the specific course description and aimed at fulfilling the graduate profile.
