Learning outcomes
The course is based on the premise that a cultural production professional must develop confidence in working with language in all its layers (from high to low, from serious to ironic) and all its forms (read, spoken, and written). This seminar focuses exclusively on skills related to the critical reading of complex theoretical texts. These skills are considered one of the keys to mastering language reliably within the professional scope of cultural production. The seminar will involve reading challenging texts from the field of contemporary theory, particularly the philosophy of art, which will also provide students with secondary theoretical insights. However, the primary goal of the seminar readings is to develop reading competencies. The course will focus on the following skills: navigating the structure of complex texts; accurately decoding information from texts; hermeneutic techniques for interpreting difficult texts; and methods for avoiding interpretative errors. Students will not only practice effective reading strategies but will also learn to identify common mistakes that lead to misinterpretation and misinformation. In the interpretative component, the course will emphasize the ability to convey complex theoretical information to the public in a clear, simple, yet precise manner. These skills will be continuously assessed throughout the seminars and ultimately evaluated in a collective oral colloquium.
The acquired competencies represent the mastery and application of knowledge in the given field, based on the specific course description and aimed at fulfilling the graduate profile.
