Course content
1. The historical context of the period's shift to public art galleries and galleries. 19th century. 2. The development of the architecture of exhibition spaces in the 19th century, the way of exhibiting. Selected examples. 3. Development and changes in the Art Nouveau period at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. 4. The situation between the two world wars. A paradigm shift. 5. Functionalism as a general term for changes in architecture. 6. Historical context of changes after World War II. 7. International style. Minimalism. 8. The influence of important private collectors on the architecture of exhibition spaces (eg Guggenheim). 9. Postmodernism and its influence on the transformation of the concept of the exhibition. 10. Architecture of museums and galleries since the 1990s. 11. Gallery or museum conversion projects. 12. Excursion.

Learning outcomes
The one-semester course is focused on familiarization and practical acquisition of the interpretation methods of iconography and iconology. The lectures are devoted to the historical development and changes of these methods from their inception to the present day, including a practical analysis of selected texts using these methods. The lecture cycle is created interactively in a combination of lectures and a lecture seminar based on the "reading-group" principle. The second, practical part of the course will be devoted to analyzes of curatorial concepts of selected exhibitions. The main evaluation criteria of these analyzes will be related questions with the theme and content of artworks, which can be a constitutive factor of exhibition concepts.
The gained capabilities constitute an encompassment and an aquirement of knowledge and experience in the subject and are aimed at a profile´s fulfilment of the graduate of the given field of study.
