The course has a twofold goal: 1. To acquaint students with the spectrum of contemporary philosophical views on art and artwork. 2. Philosophically reflect on the various contexts in which art moves today - and into which both the artist and the curator enter. In this course, we understand philosophy transdisciplinary, i.e. with overlaps into political science, sociology, media studies, anthropology, aesthetics, psychology, history, etc. The contexts that will be (philosophically) discussed include, among others: contemporary theories of sensory perception, overlaps of individual types of sensory perception (e.g. sound or tactile visuality), aesthetics and the politics of representation, the turn to the image, the subject and its questioning, gender, the environment, the city and countryside, genealogy of values and evaluation, digital and social media, postmodern religiosity. Lectures will be conducted in non-specialist language with an emphasis on comprehensibility. The course does not assume any initial knowledge of philosophy.
The gained capabilities constitute an encompassment and an aquirement of knowledge and experience in the subject and are aimed at a profile´s fulfilment of the graduate of the given field of study. |
