Course content
1. Postmodern philosophy and its influence on visual arts. 2. Visual theory in Anglo-American thought. 3. Concepts of relational aesthetics, postproduction and altermodernity - Nicolas Bourriaud. 4. Post-conceptual tendencies in art. 5. Key curatorial projects from 1990 to the present in the Czech Republic. 6. Key curatorial projects from 1990 to the present abroad. 7. Presentation of a work of art within the framework of contemporary curatorial theory and practice. 8-10 Current artistic theory and practice ? institutional criticism, collaboration, participation, performance art, artist run-spaces, the phenomenon of art collectives, the archival turn, climate distress and postcolonialism. 11. Learning outcomes
The subject is aimed at the influence of postmodern thinking on visual arts. It focuses on the analysis of specific curatorial concepts that characterize basic terms in contemporary artistic and curatorial theory and practice. It is then guided by an interpretation of the history of curation in the world and in the Czech context since 1980. It reflects current curatorial approaches. Teaching takes place in the form of lectures, exercises and excursions based on active cooperation with students.
The gained capabilities constitute an encompassment and an aquirement of knowledge and experience in the subject and are aimed at a profile´s fulfilment of the graduate of the given field of study.
