Course content
1. The role of the art museum and its changes in the 20th century. 2. Changes in the position of the art institution in the new millennium. 3. Basic terminology of the topic ? state, private, non-profit sector. 4. Collection-making art institution and its organizational structures. 5. State organizations, budgetary organizations and possibilities of their structures. 6. Exhibition practice ? intergallery loans from collections and their organization. 7. Selected curatorial figures from the Czech Republic and abroad. 8. Dramaturgical targeting, thematization of art programs. 9. Exhibition space ? practical workshop with an architect. 10-11 Excursion ? visit to a selected gallery and collection. 12. Types of work roles in state and budgetary organizations.

Learning outcomes
The course introduces the methods of functioning of galleries and art institutions in the context of Czech exhibition operations with regard to on world events. The analysis of specific examples of institutions (and tendencies) will show the differences in the ways of management and establishment (private, state), will introduce the participants of such operation and bring closer different types of functioning. Another important part of the course is getting to know the art market (primary, secondary), types of institutions and representatives of this area (collector, gallerist, curator, artist, etc.). The course will also deal with the issue of the non-profit sector and its role in culture and gallery operations. The course is divided evenly into a theoretical part and seminars of a more practical nature associated with visits and presentations of specific personalities or institutions.
The gained capabilities constitute an encompassment and an aquirement of knowledge and experience in the subject and are aimed at a profile´s fulfilment of the graduate of the given field of study.
