Course content
1. The concept of "specialization" on the example of video clips and commercials. 2. Distinction between style and narration on the example of the film Dead Poets Society (1989, dir. John Weir). 3. The concept of creating hypotheses and disappointment of expectations on the example of the film Die Welle (2008, dir. Dennis Gansel). 4. Narrative analysis in the film One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975, dir. Miloš Forman). 5. Analysis of style in the film Triumph des Willens (1935, dir. Leni Riefenstahl). 6. Analysis of style in the film Drive (2011, dir. Nicolas Winding Refn). 7. Complex formal analysis of the film Let the Right One In (2008, dir. Tomas Alfredson). 8. Complex formal analysis of the film Eyes Wide Shut (1999, dir. Stanley Kubrick). 9. Complex formal analysis of the Hilda series (2018, dir. Andy Coyle). 10. Application of the concept of "specialization" to other media (photography, graphic design, performance). 11. Discussion about the style and narrative of other media (photography, painting, product design). 12.-13. Colloquium organization, summary.

Learning outcomes
The seminar aims to acquaint students with the basic concepts associated with neoformalist analysis of film. However, the aim of the seminar is not only a theoretical definition of individual concepts, but the application of each from concepts to practical examples (documentaries and feature films, video clips, commercials, television series), discussion of these examples and implementation of these concepts into the artistic practice of each student.
