The elective course represents a complementary element of the main line of art history interpretation, which aims at acquainting lower grade students with the main tendencies that determined the dynamics of development of visual art over the past half century. Emphasis is placed on development lines preceding the current form of visual art and assumption of various forms of contemporary graphic production. The course comprehensively analyzes selected chapters of visual art at the end of the 20th century, characterizes global artistic tendencies of the early 21st century, and outlines the direction of current artistic trends in an effort to provide a basic forecast of further development in the field of current visual culture. Teaching consists in the presentation of model themes understood not only as key points of departure, but especially as logical consequences of previous developments in art history, as determinants of the political situation and the overall social climate of this epoch. Participants are drawn into the discussion, co-moderate thematic areas, and by multimedia means, they are introduced to form and to interpretation of specific works of art. In the seminar paper, they respond to current events by means of auto-reflection - they present a selected theme at the level of a concept at the end of the semester during a joint discussion.
The gained capabilities constitute an encompassment and an aquirement of knowledge and experience in the given field of study, they result from a concrete annotation of the subject and are aimed at a profile´s fulfilment of the graduate of the given field of study.
