Learning outcomes
The course focuses on one particular medium of communication between art and society: the exhibition. The course provides basic concepts of museum- and exhibition studies (display, discursivity, white cube, funding, interpretation, curatorial, educational turn, performativity). 1. Museion, collection, studiolo, library, Wunderkammer. 2. The brief history of the museum: Private collections. 3. The brief history of the museum: Private museums. 4. The brief history of the museum: Public allowed museums. 5. The brief history of the museum: Public reactive museums. 6. The brief history of the museum: Public proactive museums. 7. The functions and activities of the modern museum (roles and responsibilities). 8. The brief history of the science of art history. 9. Russian avangarde exhibition design. 10. The white cube. 11. The criticism of the white cube. 12. Biennales, biennalisation. 13. The most relevant contemporary art museums of the global art Word.
The gained capabilities constitute an encompassment and an aquirement of knowledge and experience in the given field of study, they result from a concrete annotation of the subject and are aimed at a profile´s fulfilment of the graduate of the given field of study.
