Learning outcomes
The subject represents a broad discussion forum reflecting the position of the photography in contemporary visual art based on analysis of events on the local, national, and European artistic scene, as well as the current social-cultural context. Generally, the seminar covers mainly the period between the 1970s and 2010s, which is characteristic for entrance of so-called new media, radical transformation of the photographic medium, transdisciplinarity, and multiculturalism connected with the ongoing globalization and deepening civilization and religious divergences often leading to a disharmonic social-political situation. Reflection of these trends is concurrently examined and documented based on exhibition programmes of prestigious Czech and foreign galleries and art museums, as well as world shows of contemporary art. In addition, the subject deals with issues related to the interpretation of an artwork via its installation and exhibition presentation. It works with themes following the socialization and community strategies in contemporary art and also refers to the issue of the crisis of exhibition institutions and the so-called institutional critique. 1. Forms of an artwork - from the artistic aura to the artwork as part of the community life. 2. Exposition of an artwork - between the studio, the gallery and the living room; artwork and exhibition - strategies for presentation of an artwork. 3. Artist - curator; development of positions, mutual relationship, viewing the positions of authorship 4. Changes in the institutional strategies - from the salon to the interactive space. 5. Criticism of institutions - freedom of art, limits of its presentation; artwork in the public space - democratization of the artistic discourse 6. Woman in transformations of art - women and feminist art; gender art in the 20th century. 7. Woman in transformations of art - women and feminist art; gender art in the 21st century. 8. Art and patterns of the information society - overlaps towards socioscientific disciplines. 9. Phenomena of postproduction, altermodern, and relational aesthetics. 10. Public art, art based on participatory and community artistic practice. 11. Excursions.
The gained capabilities constitute an encompassment and an aquirement of knowledge and experience in the given field of study, they result from a concrete annotation of the subject and are aimed at a profile´s fulfilment of the graduate of the given field of study.
