Learning outcomes
The course deals with a whole range of non-ferrous materials (Al, Mg, Ti, Cu) with regard to their properties, use, processing and production. The main emphasis is on Al materials, which are the most important after Fe, and the volume of their production is increasing rapidly worldwide. The course also gives space to new directions in the field of materials, namely nanomaterials and composites. It also deals with the technical properties of various types of plastics, including their processing and use, which allow to significantly reduce labor and production costs compared to other technologies.
Students will gain a general overview of non-ferrous materials, its properties and possible uses. They will gain knowledge about the possibilities of optimizing the properties of non-ferrous materials. They will gain an overview of the production, properties and use of progressive materials such as composites, nanomaterials and powdered metals. Students will gain practical experience in the preparation of metallographic samples and methods of structure evaluation.
