The course is focused on the field of destructive testing of materials - metallography, which is one of the key elements for ensuring quality control in the production process and the detection of material defects that allow subsequent process improvement. Quality control in the metallographic laboratory is ensured by macroscopic and microscopic analyzes of the material, which form the basis of the course. Chapters such as sample selection and preparation, theoretical principles of microscopy, observation and measurement of structural characteristics of materials and their evaluation according to standards or other requirements are included in this main part. From the point of view of ensuring the professional, methodological and organizational competence of the metallographic laboratory, the course is supplemented by the basics of the quality management system in the laboratory and the principles of laboratory accreditation.
