1. Internal structure of metals and alloys. 2. Basics of crystallography. 3. Dislocation - origin, movement of dislocation, dislocation of cast material, relationship between dislocations and properties. 4. Relationship between dislocations and plastic deformation during forming. 5. Methods and mechanism of metal reinforcement. 6. Precipitation hardened alloys. 7. Crystallization of metals and their alloys - the formation of inhomogeneities and their elimination. 8. Grain boundaries: definition and basic description. Properties of grain boundaries: segregation and migration. 9. Diffusion in solids. 10. Chemical - heat treatment of metal surfaces and diffusion processes in the heat treatment of metals (nitriding, cementing, boriding). 11. Methods and nature of surface wear of materials. 12. Fracture failure. Mechanism of fracture formation, types of fracture and its origin. The essence of fractography and its use.

Processes taking place in materials in the field of structure, substructure in connection with technological processes (casting, forming, machining, heat treatment). Changes taking place within materials in the structure and substructure due to technological processes and their impact on the overall properties of materials. Changes in the material as a result of these internal processes and ways to improve the properties of the material as a result of these processes.
Students will acquire the general basics of the theory of the internal structure of metals and alloys using knowledge of metal physics and the connection with various technological processes. They will gain knowledge of the processes taking place inside the material during technological processes with an impact on the properties of materials.
