The aim of the course deals with the issue of material selection during the design phase of the product. The principles of the design process are explained to students. It explains the extent to which the material affects a substantial part of the overall characteristics of the product, including its total price. Systematic processes of material selection according to decisive factors are shown. Students will learn not only to define these factors, but also to work with them in different contexts. CES EduPack (Cambridge Engineering Selector) computer support and work with Ashby graphs will be used to advantage.
