The course deals with classification of limit states and degradation processes. Limit states - definitions, selected limit states of technical objects, classification of limit states, conditions for creation of limit states. Degradation processes - internal and external factors, classification of degradation processes. Wear of TO : abrasive, adhesive, erosive, cavitation, vibration - conditions of formation, mechanism, wear resistance, testing. Fatigue of TO - basic terms, initiation, mechanism and propagation of fatigue cracks. Creep of TO - basic terms, initiation, mechanism of crack formation. Degradation by radiation: degradation by UV radiation, radiation damage. Methods of increasing the resistance of TO to degradation. Materials resistant to selected types of degradation, mechanisms increasing resistance to degradation processes.
