Course content
1. Structure of solids, structure of the atom, the building materials, the bond between atoms, fundamentals of crystallography. Disorders crystal structure, diffusion. 2. The properties of metals and alloys: physical and chemical, electrical, magnetic, thermoelectric, electrochemical and corrosion properties. 3.Crystallization metals and their alloys, and thermodynamic equilibrium phase, the general features of crystallization. Influencing the magnitude of dendritic cells. Crystal and band segregation. 4. Equilibrium binary diagrams - basic types. 5. Equilibrium diagram iron - carbon, metastable system Fe-Fe3C, stable Fe-C system, iron. 6. Heat treatment: annealing, quenching, tempering, heat treatment. 7. Chemico heat treatment: carburizing, nitriding and other methods. 8. Nonferrous metals in the energy sector: the distribution, characteristics, application. 9. Copper and its alloys: classification, properties, processing and use. 10. Al and its alloys: classification, properties, processing and use. 11. Zn, Ni, Ag, Au, Pt, properties, processing and use.

Learning outcomes
The goal of this subject is to provide students with knowledge of the structure and properties of metallic and nonmetallic materials used in energetics, as well as the influence of these characteristics and procedures for the thermal mechanical treatment.
