The content of the course is acquaintance with selected types of polymers and technologies of their production, with emphasis on use in transport technology, especially in the field of automobiles. The course deals with the division of plastics according to their properties into classes for processing, their treatment and additives for processing. It also discusses the rheological properties of plastic melts, respectively. used processing technologies (pressing, calendering, extrusion, injection, blowing, dipping, painting, casting and casting, spinning, lamination). Lightweight and thin materials and their processing are also presented. Technological aspects are devoted to the possibilities of their welding, machining, shaping / forming, resp. surface treatments. Course contents: 1. Chemistry of polymers, their structure, basic types, classification. 2. Application properties of polymers and their use in transport technology. 3. Polymer processing technology, basic procedures and methods. 4. Structural plastics and their use for vehicles. 5. Lightweight materials and their use (structural foams, sandwiches). 6. Composite materials based on polymers, possibilities of their applications. 7. Adhesives, sealants, sealing elements, rheological properties of plastic melts. 8. Coating systems, corrosion protection. 9. Special applications of polymers (high-tech, heat resistant) for transport technology. 10. Machines and equipment for processing, main producers and processors of polymers in the Czech Republic and abroad.
