Course content
1. Al-based alloys for casting - properties, distribution, marking, meaning, possibilities of processing, use, and production. Heat treatment of Al alloys - curing, homogenization and recrystallization annealing. 2. Mg-based alloys - Mg production, distribution, marking, meaning, use, properties and individual groups of alloys. 3. Ti-based alloys - production of Ti, distribution, marking, meaning, use, properties and individual groups of alloys. 4. Cu-based alloys - distribution of Cu alloys, marking, meaning, properties and use. 5. Mutual comparison of Fe, Al, Mg, Ti properties. 6. Powder metallurgy - technology of powder production, production of components and products from powder, properties of materials from powder metallurgy. 7. Composite materials - types and distribution of composite materials, properties, use and production of comp. materials. 8. Nanotechnology - carbon nanotubes, fullerenes, nanochemistry, nanorobots, nanocomposites, nanolayers, intelligent materials, properties and applications.

Learning outcomes
The course deals with a whole range of non-ferrous materials (Al, Mg, Ti, Cu) with regard to their properties, use, processing and production. The main emphasis is placed on Al materials, which are the most important after Fe and the volume of their production is increasing rapidly worldwide. The course also gives space to new directions in the field of materials, namely nanomaterials and composites. It also deals with the technical properties of various types of plastics, including their processing and use, which allow to significantly reduce labor and production costs compared to other technologies.
Students will gain a general overview of non-ferrous materials, their properties and applications.
