Course content
1. Historical development of industrial production. Basic concepts, introduction to the subject of lean manufacturing. 2. Origin and development of lean production. Planning and organization of the production process, characteristics of piece, serial and mass production. 3. Organization of production functions, traditional production system and lean production system. 4. Material flow in production management and in the workplace. Traditional methods of lean production, 8 types of waste. 5. New methods and tools of lean production. 6. Total quality management (TQM). Perfectionism achieved as a result of continuous improvement. 7. Quality control and statistical methods in production. 8. Information systems in production. Industry 4.0 and smart smart factories. 9. Lean manufacturing in services and administration.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to expand students' knowledge of new methods of production management and apply this knowledge in certain modifications to various companies and services in all industrialized countries and thus significantly increase their competitiveness. Furthermore, the use of lean manufacturing methods in intelligent factories in connection with the concept of Industry 4.0.
The student will understand the difference between production management methods in Japan and the USA. They will get information about ways to improve and increase the competitiveness of companies, not only in the field of production but also in the provision of services and administration.
