Course content
|
1. Territorial development: essence, concept, components of territorial development; sustainable development, territorial development policy. 2. Geographical organization of society in the Czech Republic: hierarchy of settlement system, functional economic regions, the concept of polycentric development. 3. Concept of territorial development of the Czech Republic: approaches, historical retrospective, alternative concepts. 4. Territorial development at the level of regions and municipalities (urban and rural): development concepts, tools, solved problems, tasks and goals of territorial development of regions and municipalities in the Czech Republic. 5. Priorities of spatial planning in the Czech Republic: definition of individual areas, problems and priority tasks from the point of view of the whole Czech Republic. 6. Spatial development policy of the Czech Republic: role in spatial planning, the importance of the Spatial Development Policy of the Czech Republic as a tool of spatial planning. 7. Development areas and development axes of the Czech Republic: territorial delimitation and basic characteristics of individual development areas and axes in the Czech Republic. 8. Specific areas of the Czech Republic: territorial delimination and basic characteristics of individual specific areas of the Czech Republic, impacts on policy formulations. 9. Functional components of territorial development: basic characteristics of selected components of territorial development, their state and development tendencies in the Czech Republic. 10. Transport and transport infrastructure: definition of relevant terms, decelopment of transport infrastructure (view of the Czech Republic and EU countries). 11. Individual modes of transport: rail, road, water, air; characteristics, state and development in the Czech Republic, connection to spatial planning. 12. Technical infrastructure: the importance and components of technical infrastructure, solving the issue of technical infrastructure in spatial planning activities. 13. Selected technical systems: their state in the Czech Republic, expected development, requirements and relation to spatial planning.

Learning outcomes
|
The course is focused on a comprehensive solution of spatial organization and functionality of the Czech Republic. The primary subject of interest of the course is the solution of spatial relations at the national level and the regional dimension is secondary. The main attention is then paid to the current Spatial Development Policy of the Czech Republic as a key concept of spatial planning at the state level.
The student is able to use professional terminology. The student is able to explain the principles of organization of the Czech space and conceptual priorities in the deployment of key structures, with particular emphasis on transport and technical infrastructure.

To successfully complete the course, it is required to submit a seminar paper presenting the results of their own research and active participation in discussions during seminars.
