The course focuses on coalition theory with an emphasis on the analysis of the development of interpretations of coalition relations, especially in democratic parliamentary systems. The object of interest is therefore the problems of basic theoretical approaches such as game theory, coalition theory, as well as the theory of veto players. The aim is to present the complex issue of the basic approaches that are commonly used to analyse coalition relations, linkages and interactions between differenct actors. In particular, attention is paid to the genesis of coalition relations and the practical application of each approach.
The student will gain knowledge about the basic concepts related to the analysis of coalitions and coalition organization on a theoretical and practical level. He will acquire knowledge about individual concepts and theries and will be able to apply them adequately. He will gain practical knowledge of the practical functioning of the coalition arrangement in Eruoepan countries and at various levels of the political system of the Czech Republic.
