Course content
1. Introductory lesson and introduction to the course. 2. Ensuring the security of the Czech Republic. 3. Legislation and legislative process of the Czech Republic from the perspective of security. 4. Defence strategy of the Czech Republic. 5. Environmental security of the Czech Republic. 6. Raw material and energy security of the Czech Republic. 7. Crisis management. 8. Security at the local level of government I. 9. Security at the local level of government II. 10. Security and international law. 11. International organisations and security (UN, NATO, OSCE, ..) 12. Final lesson - summary and defence of group seminar papers.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to provide students with basic knowledge of security issues. The course focuses on national security issues, both from the national and local security level. It focuses mainly on te level of security provision, defence strategies of the Czech Republic, crisis management and international security organisations.
The student will gain knowledge about internal and external security issues. The student will acquire knowledge about legislative aspects of security policy, defence strategy, crisis management, or security at the local level of government. They will also learn about security issues at the supranational level of governance.

Completion of ongoing activities within individual lectures/seminars (50%). Writing and then defending a group seminar paper (50%).
