Learning outcomes
|
The course is devoted to the analysis of local and regional politics. It focuses on several main topics. The first is a general view of the powers and form of local and regional self-government. Other areas concern more narrowly focused issues: electoral and party competition, direct democracy, executive coalitions, etc. Finally, attention is paid to the relationship between local and regional politics and the issue of nationalization of local and regional party systems.
The student is able to use professional terminology. The student distinguishes individual typologies of municipal and regional systems of government. The student will gain knowledge about the competencies, functions and financing of local and regional government. The student is able to characterize the specifics of various aspects of governance (electoral and party competition, direct democracy, executive coalitions, etc.) at the sub-state level of governance. The student is able to analyze the differences between local and regional politics.
