Learning outcomes
This course focuses on analysis and interpretation of contemporary socio-political problems and chalanges. It is not a course in classical political philosophy, nor in anglo-american political theory, it does not adresses topics of a good polis, state, or social contract. It draws on contemporary political thought influenced by critical theory, post-colonial thinking, political aesthetics, eco criticism, neomarxism, or feminism. Yet, the course does not focus on authors or schools of thought, but on socio-political problems in order to allow students to analyse contemporary socio-political problems based on up-to-date political thought.
Students will get to know contemporary political thought Students will be able to discuss and interpret contemporary social and political issues. Student will be able to present and defend their interpretations. Students will be able to write theoretical papers on chosen topics
Prerequisites
Reading command of Englisch is necessary. Orientation in 20th century philosophy is an advantage.
