Learning outcomes
The target of the course is to get students acquainted with the anthropological concept of art. Art in anthropology is not seen as a closed area of process, but as a subsystem of the entire socio-cultural system. We meet various anthropological theories of art and function of art in different periods and cultures. We will think about some important issues such as the issue of so-called primitive art, modern art, origin of art, transcultural transmission and others. We will acquire the ability to interpret works of art from sociocultural perspectives, identify cultural differences and universals.
Learning outcomes: Student will gain the following academic knowledge: - can inform about the various anthropological theories of art - can interpret works of art on sociocultural perspectives
