1) The concept, causes and types of violence 2) Domestic violence and its forms 3) Violence and bullying at school and in the workplace. 4) Displays of violence in social relations and crime. 5) Crime and Punishment 6) The issue of death penalty. 7) The political use of violence. 8) The insurrection, civil war, revolution. 9) The state violence, the question of legitimacy. 10) Pacifism. 11) Realism. 12) The concept of a rightful war.

Learning outcomes |
The course will get students acquainted with general overview of the issue of violence. The main topic will be the displays of violence in modern society, such as domestic violence, bullying, sexual violence, crime, political use of violence during demonstrations, the legitimacy of the use of violence by the state, the issue of insurrection, civil war, revolution and war in general. In the course, reading of selected classical texts and their interpretation, presentation of own study results and discussions will be included.
Learning outcomes: - knowledge of types and forms of violence - knowledge of basic theories of violent behavior - orientation in the issue of legitimacy of violence - ability to find relevant information sources on the issue of violence. |
