Course content
1. The beginning of forming Czech party system 2. Czech party system in the period of the 1st Czechoslovak Republic in 1918-1938 3. Transformation of the Czech party system in the Czechoslovak Republic in 1938-1939 4. Czech party system in 1945-1948 5. Czech party system during the communist regime from 1948 to 1989 6. Beginnings of the formation of a pluralistic party system after 1989 7. Differentiation of Czech political scene after elections in 1990 8. Formation and Development of the Czech party system after elections in 1992 9. The main cleavage of Czech politicians and their reflection in the form of the Czech party system 10. Transformations and selected problems in the development of the Czech party system from the 90 ´s to the present 11. Evaluation of the long-term characteristic features of the Czech party system

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to get students acquainted with the formation and development of the Czech party system in different historical periods, focusing on the period after 1989. The main focus of the course is to the analyze program orientations which are relevant to political entities, their position in the Czech political scene and cooperative-competitive interactions among them.
Student is able to understand the process of formation and development of the Czech party system, preparation of relevant political entities and cooperative-competitive interactions in Czech politics.

At the exam the knowledge of the subject matter is expected. It should have been based on lectures and basic and recommended literature (studying at least one of book studies and two studies of academic political science journal). The exam will consist of basic questions related to the selected issue of subject matter and several shorter supplementary questions.
