Learning outcomes
The course focuses on reading primary texts. Selected examples demonstrate the birth of Greek philosophical thought and offer a systematic overview of key philosophical topics formulated by ancient thinkers, presented to a closer and more in-depth study. Students can verify their ability to understand the primary text, get acquainted with the variety of genres of philosophical speech, and reflect the content and formal structure of individual textual fragments. Work in the course requires active work with the texts (summary, analysis, discussion).
The student will get acquainted with the following knowledge: - can read and interpret primary philosophical texts - can reflect the argumentative structure of the text - can analyse philosophical issues in the text and discuss them - can interconnect the knowledge gained by reading the texts with a theoretical understanding of the historical and systematic overview of ancient philosophy
