Course content
1. Introduction (The issue and the importance of philosophy of science): the relationship between philosophy and science in its historical transformations, the nature of scientific attitudes, science as a laboratory of theory of knowledge, ontology avant-garde. 2. Illustrations: Galileo Galilei and the separation of science from philosophy. 3 to 4 History of philosophy of science in preview: Plato, Aristotle, Bacon, Hume, Kant, Comte, Mill and Whewell, Masaryk, Poincaré, Vienna Circle, Popper, Kuhn, Lakatos and Feyerabend, Bayesian program. 5 to 7 Philosophical and methodological problems of different areas of research, overview of basic positions: (a) Philosophy of Mathematics and Logic, (b) Philosophy of Science, (c) Philosophy of Social sciences, (d) Philosophy of Humanities 8 to 9 Popper: The Logic of Scientific Discovery. Criticism of inductive draw, the problem of demarcation, the origin of theory indifferent - scientism is only in its testing, the resulting image of knowledge as not founded and not possible to be found. 10 to 11 Kuhn: Structure of Scientific Revolutions. Normal science, paradigm and disciplinary matrix, anomalies and crisis, the scientific revolution, incommensurability. 12. Lakatos and the theory of research programs. Core and cover, rise and fall. 13. Today's situation. Feyerabend and methodological anarchism, Bayesian program, Laudan, Cartwright, Latour.

Learning outcomes
This is an overview course. Lecture consists of historical introduction, the problem of interpretation of philosophy in individual research areas, and more thorough interpretation of the main characters and themes of philosophy of science in the last two-thirds of the 20th century.
Student is able to prepare a 20 minute lecture/lesson on any of the discussed topics, read less difficult literature (e.g. secondary school literature) and study individually less sophisticated primary and secondary literature.

Syllabi of course - readings in the extent of about 70 pages. Students will hand in a short essay and at the end of the course it will be written a knowledge test.
