Learning outcomes
The course will concentrate on the genesis of terrorist groups in Europe, from seventies till now. We will put stress on groups which grew from radical political positions - leftist (RAF, Brigade Rosse, Action Directe, CCC), rightist (Ordine Nuovo, C18, Bozkurtlar), as well as nationalist (IRA, ETA). We will concentrate on the circumstances of the genesis of these groups, its international dimension and cooperation (for example with groups in Palestina or Southern America). We will emphasize the reasons of relative success of nationalist groups (IRA, ETA) and of relative nonsuccess of political groups.
Look in the field of politically motivated terrorism and extremism in Europe and Northern America. Knowledge of basic differentiation of these groups, their ideology and activity.
