Course content
1. Objectives and means of documentation and evaluation of finding situations of material evidence of the past. 2. Finding situation in a historical building and an approach to it.. 3. Identification and inventorying. 4. Macrostructure, structure and microstructure. 5. Data, historical and contemporary context. 6. Strategy of the procedure, selected methods and means of documentation. 7. Documentation process. 8. Stratigraphic analysis. 9. Formal forms of records. 10. Hypothesis and modeling. 11. Limits of operational research and documentation of historical buildings. 12. Utility form of outputs, users of information. 13. Finding report of the Operational Survey and Documentation.

Learning outcomes

Students will acquire skills in distinguishing, recording and analyzing information from the formal structure of material historical sources (artefacts), especially buildings. They will be competent to use recording techniques such as : drawing, field sketch, building measurement, geodetic measurement, digital photo documentation, one-shot photogrammetry, 3D scanning, verbal description. On simple cases of finding situations they will get knowledge of stratigraphic analysis of a snapshot of an event recordings and modeling of developmental processes in historical buildings.

Independent seminar paper in the extent of a finding report of the Operational Survey and Documentation according to the certified methodology of National Heritage Institute, presented at a colloquium and submitted in the electronic form of the FR OSD paper in .pdf format.
