The lecture attempts to unravel the world of thinking of Frankish political elites and ruling dynasties at the end of the Merovingian era at the time of Carolingian rulers. It focuses on two areas of problems: shaping of dynastic consciousness and formation of early medieval aristocracy and its political traditions and stereotypes, with implications on mutual interaction and processes and the culture of political decision-making. The lecture is based on analytical analysis and interpretation of selected texts of both narrative and normative character.
