This optional course aims to present students with the discipline of historical sociology in the context of its development and show them various methodological approaches by particular authors. Important part of the course involves pointing out significant issues/problems which are being dealt with. In addition, another objective of the course is to highlight interconnections, links or different perspectives of other disciplines such as history and political science in particular.
After completing the course students will be able to define basic character of the discipline of historical sociology. They will be able to point out and define particular topics and character of different methodological approaches. On the basis of acquired knowledge they will be able to work with the newest academic literature or possibly with archival sources. Another outcome of the course is also that students will be able to compare acquired specific knowledge with the general development of society in the Czech republic and Central European space. |

There are no previous courses required. General knowledge of sociology, historical sciences and politology is welcomed.

Students are required to have at least 80% attendance at lectures and be active there. Furthermore they have to work on assigned task followed by its presentation. They also have to write an essay on a given topic. |
