The cultural heritage of the Germans in the Czech lands was shaped by the specific possibilities and traditions of individual regions, but it was also shaped by both regional and international influences, especially those of neighbouring countries. Selected examples should be used to show how culture was or was not linked to the developments in society in different areas, which will be accompanied by basic information about the individual cultural areas. The time period covered will be the 19th and the first half of the 20th century.
The student will gain knowledge of the culture of Germans in the Czech lands in the 19th and 20th centuries. This will not only contribute to the knowledge of the culture of an ethnic group that has shared space with us for several centuries, but will also allow to orient oneself to this heritage in the territory of each region. This can then play an important role for skilled employment in cultural institutions. |
