Course content
|
It builds on PV 321. A certain basic orientation is assumed. The support tool is the command of modern languages, while emphasizing that the Latin language represents a distinct system with its own logically constructed structure. Therefore, it is necessary to master the basic grammatical rules of Latin morphology and procedures when working with phrases and sentences. The function of Latin as a general support for language study is referenced. Regarding Latin as the foundation of both general and specialized terminology, its significance and importance for the linguistic improvement of both stylistic language and more general formally logical thinking.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the advanced course is to expand and deepen the basic knowledge of normative Latin grammar and skills in practical application. In addition to working with texts, the course includes references to the developmental changes in the Latin language (classical and medieval Latin), the changing role of Latin, and the significance and impact of cultural and historical contexts.
The student is oriented in the fundamentals of Latin morphology and selectively in Latin syntax as well. With the help of working with a dictionary and other manuals, he is capable of working with Latin texts, especially those of a historical nature. He is able to independently develop the acquired knowledge through self-study and further work, especially with various types of medieval texts and with Latin documents from later periods. The student also knows the basic types of Latin editions and resources that he will use in the future for studies and historical work.

It is expected to complete the introductory semester and to become familiar with the elementary basics of Latin.

Continuity with previously achieved prerequisites for navigating Latin grammar and Latin texts. An active approach and work with basic and recommended literature, fulfilling partial tasks while working with Latin texts (translations of texts, practice and assessment testing).
