Learning outcomes
The course is focused on presenting the source base for selected chapters of 20th century history. During its course, students will become familiar with the characteristics of sources, the possibilities of their use, availability, analysis and criticism. They will gain an overview of the structure and function of archives in the Czech Republic and, informatively, in other countries. In addition to written sources, which will be presented both in the form of editions and originals, attention will be paid to less traditional sources such as cartoons, photographs, film newsreels (or period documents) and film. Thematically, the course will focus primarily on issues of Czech-German relations and the period 1918-1989 with contextual overlaps.
Students attend lectures and seminars, for which they prepare using recommended and provided materials and literature. They discuss individual problems and place them in broader contexts.
