Course content
1. A summary of students existing knowledge of the history of architecture, definition of the subject. 2. A repetition of the overview of Baroque architecture in Europe. 3. A repetition of the overview of Baroque architecture in the Czech lands. 4. Trends architecture at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. 5. The architecture of historicism, restoration purism in Europe. 6. The architecture of historicism in the Czech lands. 7. Restoration purism in the Czech lands. 8. New materials in architecture. 9. Trends in architecture at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries I. 10. Trends in architecture at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries II. 11. Individualist modernism in architecture in Europe. 12. Individualistic modernism in architecture in the Czech lands. 13. A summary of the topics discussed. 14. Credit test.

Learning outcomes
The aim of this course is to acquaint students with the works of important Czech and international architects, and their theories and historical significance in the 19th adn 20th centuries. It will also seek to describe the context of the times, strongly manifested especially in architecture in the period under review.
The student is able to identify the characteristic features of historical architectural periods and styles, is able to date historical architecture in a general way, and knows the basic development of architecture of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century.
Prerequisites
Completion of the course Introduction to the history of architecture II.

Assessment methods and criteria

Participation in the lectures with no more than three absences and study of the prescribed expert literature. Oral creddit with the aim of verifying the material covered.
