Course content
1. Introductory lesson 2. What is cultural history? 3. Significant figures in Czech and European cultural history and their work. 4. Overview of the development of interest in culture in the European environment until the beginning of the Enlightenment. 5. Overview of the development of interest in culture in the Czech environment until the beginning of the Enlightenment. 6. Iconographic minimum - basic circle of saints. 7. Iconographic minimum - protectors and patrons. 8. Professional terminology of cultural history - authors, literature. 9. Practical exercises in professional terminology. 10. Practical historical topography. 11. Practical historical geography. 12. Professional excursion. 13. Final summary and evaluation of the course. 14. Written exam.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the content and basic historical development of cultural history as a field. Significant personalities and their work from the period of antiquity to the 20th century are introduced. Furthermore, the course participant becomes familiar with the relevant professional literature, especially handbooks and encyclopedias, which will help in later independent work. Great emphasis is also placed on students mastering the basics of professional terminology (monument care, cultural history, art). In addition, they will acquire some necessary additional knowledge, e.g. from the field of historical geography, historical topography, etc. The teaching in individual seminars is divided into a theoretical part, focused on a specific topic, and a practical part, in which professional terminology and a selected area of practical skills are discussed.
The graduate demonstrates knowledge of historical development and basic theoretical and methodological problems of cultural history. He/she has mastered basic field terminology, has partial knowledge of iconography, historical topography and geography. He/she has an overview of basic titles of domestic literature.
