Learning outcomes
The goal of the subject is to introduce the student to the main trends of historiography in the 20th century with regard to other disciplines (philosophy, sociology, economy, anthropology, geography). We will stress seeking for possibilities of interdisciplinary approaches (as a starting point for the crisis of historicism and historical positivism or ideological dogmatism) which is present in the works of important artists in various forms from the beginning of the last century. The lectures are on following topics and should be complemented by reading of scientific literature.
The graduate of the course is oriented in the problems of modern historiography. The student understands its origins and perceives its institutional anchorage. He or she understands the importance of the journal and the Annales school and its first generation. Knows the names of important pre-war historians from the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Russia and America. Understands the problems of quantitative history and knows the representatives of this movement. He is well acquainted with the so-called third generation of the Annales school. Understands the influence of foreign historians on modern Czech history.

The course is implemented in the form of lectures and exercises. In the lectures, it is necessary to absorb the basic aspects of the subject matter, and in the exercises, it is necessary to meet the attendance requirements and defend the paper presented. The subsequent examination is primarily written with the possibility of adjusting the final grade in the oral part of the examination.
