Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to provide students with a more detailed introduction to the typo-chronological development of the fundamental components of material culture in the ancient Mediterranean region, covering the period from the Geometric era to Late Antiquity. The presentation will place particular emphasis on aspects related to various forms of documentation of both movable and immovable material culture for the purposes of archaeological research, laboratory processing, subsequent scholarly activities, and public presentation. Attention will also be given to methods focused on documenting traces of production technologies.
Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to typologically and chronologically classify individual components of both movable and immovable ancient material culture. In connection with documentation standards, the student will be capable of selecting the most appropriate method of documentation and carrying it out at the required level of quality. The student will also be able to digitize manually created documentation and recognize situations in which it is more suitable to conduct documentation directly in digital form. The skills acquired will be applicable in practice, for example, in institutions involved in archaeological heritage management, museums, research institutes, or galleries.
Prerequisites
1. The student should complete the course Prehistory. 2. Knowledge of a foreign language is not a requirement; however, a basic knowledge of English and German will significantly facilitate successful completion of the course.

Assessment methods and criteria
unspecified
To successfully complete the course, students must achieve at least 75% on a written test. The test will consist of both multiple-choice questions and questions that require students to formulate answers in their own words. Upon passing the written test, students will proceed to an oral examination covering the main topics addressed in the course.
