Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to provide students with a detailed introduction to the typological and chronological development of prehistoric material culture in the Czech Republic and the broader Central European context. Emphasis will be placed on various forms of documenting this material culture for archaeological research purposes, subsequent laboratory analysis, scholarly interpretation, and public presentation. Attention will also be given to methods focused on documenting traces of production technologies.
Upon completing the course, the student will be able to typologically and chronologically classify individual components of both movable and immovable prehistoric material culture. In relation to documentation standards, the student will be capable of selecting the most appropriate method for documenting these components and executing it to the required quality. The student will also be proficient in digitising manually created documentation and recognising situations where direct digital documentation is more suitable. The acquired competencies will enable the student to apply their knowledge in practice, for example, in organisations dedicated to archaeological heritage care, museums, specialised institutes, and similar institutions.
