Course content
1. Types of building history research and surveys (SHP, OPD, report on a find) 2. The system of description of historical architecture according to the rules of existing monument preservation 3. - 4. Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the specialized technical terminology of building history necessary for describing the situation of historical buildings, the description of the mass and expression of the building, its facades, layout, communication scheme, equipment and constructions with an emphasis on acquiring the specific terminology of historical constructions, details and units, which is based on cultural and artistic developments different from the conventional terminology of the construction and engineering industries. The course also includes getting to know and mastering the specific mechanism of creating a professional description of historic buildings, the form of which is anchored in the practice of existing monument care, and getting to know the basic types of surveys and research used in building history.
The student masters the technical terminology of building history, can compile a professional description of historical architecture, can roughly date historical constructions and details. He uses the acquired knowledge in the processing of construction-historical surveys and operational surveys and documentation.
