Learning outcomes

The aim of the course is to synoptically introduce students to the development of history of fine arts from the first artistic expressions of humanity to the Romanesque period. Emphasis is laid on the individual cultural horizons and, as far as the later periods are concerned, on individual stylistic trends. The course is an inseparable part of the system of lecturing history of fine arts on the bachelor´s study level, which - in the case of the fields Documentation of Historical Monuments and Cultural History - closes with final state examination.
Prerequisites
1. The graduation from the subject does not unconditionally require previous graduation from another discipline. 2. It is beneficial if students can work with foreign-language professional literature (in German and/or English). The students are also expected to have historical insight at least on the level of secondary-school curricula in the field of history.
