1. Rural buildings or folk architecture? 2. Theoretical aspects and basis of forming culture landscape - general scheme of rural settlements in traditional society. Rural community nad village. 3. Forms of rural settlement - Typology of rural settlements according to their formal structure. 4. Structure of rural settlement - parts of farmyard and their relations. 5. Facade of rural house - Sign and symbol, semiotic status, hierarchy. 6. Rural house interior I. - Layout: Relations of component parts, layout types, communication scheme. 7. Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to get the students acquainted with typology of settlements and buildings in traditional rural society and with basic tendencies of their building development in the Czech Republic. Students learn to follow representations of social relationships in formal building structure of rural settlements and buildings. Great emphasis is put on functional types of buildings, change of their interior equipment and traditional constructions. Beside practical function social importance and symbolic meaning of buildings and their parts is followed. Students get also acquainted with research history and research methods of rural buildings and with their protection in the Czech Republic.
Understanding importance of rural buildings in forming culture identity. Basic review of regional differencies, social and subculture differentiation and historical development. Understanding importance of using traditional materials, techniques and technologies in rural building constructions . Understanding rural buildings as parts of immovable culture heritage with significant innovative potential for improving life quality. Students use acquired knowledge and skills in fields of protection of monuments, construction industry, teritorial planning and museology. Knowledge: Social systems relations are reflected in formal structure of settlements and buildings. Form of production, technical possibilities, culture background, traditions and innovations determine building forms. Learning: Basic review of regional differencies, evolution and types of rural settlements in the Czech Republic. Skills: Comparison of knowledge from literature, presentation of compared knowledge
