Course content
The teaching of the course in the combined form includes the following topics in individual teaching blocks: 1. History of conservation 2. Structure of conservation in the Czech Republic 3. 2. Concepts of contemporary conservation in the Czech Republic 4. Administrative proceedings in monument care 5. Proposal for declaration as a cultural monument

Learning outcomes
The course aims to provide students with information from the current practice of state conservation. Emphasis is placed not only on the reflection, evaluation and temporal classification of individual monuments, but also on contemporary administrative processes in force in the Czech Republic. Students should then reflect on the interdisciplinary nature of conservation and orient themselves to the various disciplines and professions with which the conservationist works in his/her profession. The aim of the course is also to provide students with guidance on how to search for monumental values in individual immovable and movable monuments and conservation areas. The course will focus on the conservation of monuments in the Czech Republic according to the current Act on State Conservation of Monuments 20/1987 Coll. In terms of the concept of teaching, the lectures will be focused on the theoretical basis and the subsequent seminars on the practical procedures of conservation.
The student will be able to reflect on the cultural heritage of the Czech Republic and will be able to evaluate its condition. He will be instilled with the basics of the practice of state conservation so that he will be able to evaluate quality and poor quality interventions on our heritage.
Prerequisites
The student should be well versed in Czech and world history and the history of art.

Assessment methods and criteria

The student passes the course on the basis of a successful test. However, the main emphasis will be on the successful completion of continuous seminar assignments. Students are encouraged to attend lectures and study the prescribed literature.
