Course content
1) The Great Moravia crisis. a. Invasion of Hungarians and subsequent socio-political changes. 2) Vratislav I. and St. Wenceslas. a. The dispute between st. Ludmila and Princess Drahomír. b. The Government of Sts. Wenceslas and its impacts. c. Death of sv. Wenceslas and its influence on the internal politics of the Czech duchy. 3) The government of Boleslavs. a. Politics of the Boleslav I. b. Leverage of the Boleslav II. c. Boleslav III. and the beginnig of the crisis. 4) The crisis at the turn of the millennium. a. The departure of Jaromír and Oldřich into exile. b. Czech Aristocracy Uprising and Vladivoj's Choice. c. Chaotic changes on the stone seat- causes and consequences d. Resolving the crisis, the onset of Břetislav I.

Learning outcomes
Subject is aimed to familiarize students with the early Přemyslid state, both in terms of internal organization of the Czech duchy, and in terms of power depending on the surrounding state. The main task of the course will be to map the development of the Czech duchy and to show the emergence of the individual power principles that the Czech Duchy has formed.
After completing this course student will be able to orientation in in the issues of the early Přemyslid state, with special regard to the influence of international politics on the internal politics of the Czech duchy.
