Course content
|
Topics of lectures: 1. Legislature and documentation: the system of conservation care in Czech Republic, legislative protection of the documentation of historic sights. 2. Construction History Research - finding report: parts of the finding report of Construction History Research, method of single parts, use of Construction History Research. 3. Construction History Research - archive exploration: Setting the question for an active search, basic written sources and literature for the Construction History, Critical comparative method for the results of archive exploration and construction model. 4. Construction History Research - construction development: defining the traces of construction development, data analysis, construction stratigraphy, transformation of the building, traces of the function. 5. Construction History Research - practical field training. 6. Operational Research and Documentation - finding report: single parts, method of single parts of the finding report 7. Operational Research and Documentation - practical field training 8. Description of architecture: basic terminology, practical training 9. Documentation of details: measurement of shaping, shaping wire, comb, frottage, tracing. 10. Documentation of details: practical field training. 11. Cartographic sources: basic types of maps, ways of imaging, critique of mapping material, use. 12. Special destructive methods of documentation: dendro-chronology, plaster analysis, probing. 13. Excursion: National Technical museum - exposition Architecture, Building and Design.

Learning outcomes
|
The subject will explain in detail the method of construction history research and operational research and documentation and the perfection in managing the documentation techniques by practical training.
The student knows the structure of finding reports of Construction History Research and Operational Research and Documentation and can tell the difference between the two types of documentation, manages to describe architecture and basic documentation methods, can fill in the finding report for Operational Research and Documentation.
