5 hours of seminars 1. Definitions. Meaning and division of historical sources. Unwritten sources - material, iconographic, cartographic and other sources. Historical sources in archives 2. Historical sources in museums, libraries, etc. Historical sources online/EIZ. The most important editions of domestic historical sources 3. The most important editions of historical foreign sources. Chronicles and chronicling. Older ego-documents (diaries, memoirs, memoirs), travelogues, correspondence 4. Writings of patrimonial and municipal administration and their use. 5. Other printed sources - charts, official calendars or directories; wills. Older local periodicals as historical sources

Learning outcomes
|
The study of sources is presented in this course as the theory and practice of acquiring, studying, and using all historical sources, but without the specialized literature. Historical sources in this presentation are both the object and the subject of knowledge, i.e. the goal, whereas for historical science they serve only as a means to the knowledge of historical reality. Students will examine the general and common features of historical sources as sources of original information about the history of human society. The main task is to examine these sources in a way that they can serve historical science most optimally.
The student will gain a broad knowledge of the theory of historical sources, their nature and function, and will deepen his/her practical skills, including the classification and typology of sources. The student will learn the study of historical sources in common and general terms and will be able to use methods of acquiring, studying and making available historical sources.

Completion of Introduction to the Study of History at the undergraduate level.

Students participate in lectures for which they prepare using recommended and provided materials and literature. They discuss individual issues and place them in a broader context.
