Learning outcomes
|
The history of architecture of the 19th and 20th centuries is interpreted as part of the cultural memory of society, including its political, economic and technical contexts. Their aim is to provide the student with a comprehensible overview and basic orientation in the field of human activity, which is permanently inscribed in the image of the city and landscape and creates a material environment, usually lasting many generations. Most of the significant foreign examples of architecture of the 19th and 20th centuries are compared with architecture in our countries, with an emphasis on regional ties and specificities that accompany construction activities depending on the material and industrial base of each location. Emphasis is also placed on the theoretical concept of architecture.
The student is familiar with the issues of architecture of the 19th and 20th centuries, is able to characterize individual directions, currents and movements. He/she is able to place the development and form of architecture of a given period in the context of economic, cultural and political history.
